Do you invest in mindset fitness like you do (would) your physical fitness?
Most people have accepted that if you would like to improve your physical fitness that results in better health and better physical performance then you will need to make an investment of time, energy and in many cases dollars.
People will take actions like the following:
The role of the mindset does not change even if you change the type of fitness to knowledge fitness ie. the growth of your intellectual capacity. Your mindset has to choose to be open to this path and accept to build your knowledge muscle. Similarly, with physical fitness there comes a point of execution; the application of your new found ability and it is at this point you would love to ensure your mindset is 100% committed to you showing up with this capability.
Are you able to detect when you do and do not show up with all your capability – are there particular signs, symptoms or triggers that cause a less than desirable response? This very question plagued my life a few years ago as I began to clearly detect that I was not showing up with all I had to offer in the workplace … and for the life of me I could not, and in some respects would not allow myself to, understand WHY this was so. I had a 20-year career of knowledge, data, experience and perceived great performances, but no idea about how to consistently take control of delivery ie. show up with everything I had every day. Later came the 8 things I identified to get done to be present in life.
How well do you know you mind?
I truly asked myself this question a little while back and the answer my mind gave me was; “not very well”. I recall having this internal discussion with the conscious mind and it saying … hang on, we have been pretty dam successful in life so far, what do you mean I do not know my mind. Then my mind (the unconscious part if you like) gave a response of: “you fool, I have always been in control and through distracting you, allowing you to invest in unresourceful emotional responses I have been causing lots of drama in your life to keep me occupied and satisfied."
OK … I know it sounds weird, but we all have internal conversations with ourselves at least daily; like the one I am having now as a write this post and the one you are having as you read this post – so who are you talking to? In my beliefs, I view it as I outlined above ie. it is our conscious self (mind) asking questions on the unconscious mind (the most bountiful resource) and we are looking for two main results – validation of YES or confirmation of No in regard to a choice we would like to make.
With all this playing out in my head it confirmed for me I did not and never really had stopped and given time to getting to know my mind. I had just taken my mindset for granted and believed that because I fed it knowledge and allowed it to test this knowledge daily that I understood the purpose of my mind. On further investigation, all I truly understood was that this part of my mind that was the knowledge implementer.
This mindset had served me well and still serves me well as required, but the focus on this part of my mindset had really caused other parts of my life to not develop to the same levels. Overall I had an unfit mindset. Whilst I was social, I never made long lasting connections past a couple of years - I look back now and understand this part of the mindset had not developed. I would float in an out of social circles and networks. This outcome was not registered and there were no prompts me to think differently about the role of my mindset.
Lastly, as a result of the belief I held that my knowledge mindset was the only mindset I needed and having an unconscious mind controlling parts of my life without any self-regulation, I found myself believing that the workplace was the place to satisfy my need for connection. This resulted in many one-ways relationships ie. I was giving energy and never felt like I was getting it back. So after the last couple of years of building mindset fitness, I have realised that I had just been leading myself through life without the real purpose I desired. I had been floating along on my knowledge talent and semblance of belief and thinking that this was a complete mindset for my life.

Before I began practicing mindset fintess I had not idea just how much I did not know about the amazing capability of the mindThrough mindset fitness, this has changed dramatically and I firmly, with confidence, know my mind. Here are 10 things I found out:
Where does it begin? All Mindset Fitness begins with you being a purposeful self-coach. This will give you the opportunity to truly understand the integration of your passion and purpose in life. From this, you then can craft the version of you that you want to show up every day of your life and further you will create your own practices that manage emotional responses and other limits and barriers you place in your life.
As your Mindset Fitness builds you will continue to exercise your mind by stepping up to share your new found Mindset Fitness experience with others using the fundamental principles of personal mindset coaching.
Is there another level … well YES, there always will be because you will create it for yourself through your own thinking about how you can best show up every day.
